England’s captain Eoin Morgan poses with the series trophy.

Imight be tempting fate in saying this, but England look pretty invincible ahead of the upcoming World Cup after comfortably beating Pakistan yesterday. England won the final One Day International to complete a 4-0 series victory with one game drawn due to the weather. This makes England look in good nick for the upcoming Cricket World Cup. Joe Root’s 84 and a 76 from captain Eoin Morgan helped lift the home side to 351-9 – a total that looked like being much higher after a rapid start at Headingley. Pakistan seemed all but beaten after Chris Woakes’ new-ball burst reduced them to 6-3, only for Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Ahmed to share a partnership of 146.

Abrilliant night last night for Rovers as they moved to within one win of achieving back-to-back promotions. Tranmere overcame 10-man Forest Green Rovers to reach the League Two play-off final. Micky Mellon’s side – who went up through the National League play-offs last season – will now face Newport County at Wembley on Saturday 25th May for a place in the First Division. Rovers went into last night’s game leading 1-0 from Friday’s first leg and were initially pegged back at The New Lawn as Joseph Mills headed in for the Gloucestershire club. But a well-taken volley from James Norwood against his old club quickly put Tranmere level in the second leg and restored their aggregate lead in the tie.
